The Indian Hindi Welfare Association wants to build the centre on a four-acre plot of land off Lings Way, Lumbertubs. The building, which has been described by the association as 'spectacular', would feature a temple with a pyramid roof. There would also be a day-care centre for the elderly, a housing complex for people aged over 55 and a sports complex inside the new facility.

The Balochistan Assembly (BA) on Saturday unanimously demanded the federal government, through a parliamentary resolution, cancel construction plans for a dam on Hangol River in order to avoid damage to a historical Hindu temple. Balochistan Minister for Irrigation and Power Sardar Muhammad Aslam Bizenjo along with several other provincial ministers moved a joint resolution on the floor of the BA against construction of the dam.

This bhajan is from the hindi movie Shirdi Ke Sai Baba. It occurs in the beginning of the movie when the name of the artists are shown. It got this bhajan from a Sai Devotee. Other songs of the movie are already available on this blog, readers can follow the link. This bhajan was originally composed by Dasganu Maharaj and the story behind it is available here. It is sung everyday in Samadhi Mandir in Shirdi during Kakad Arti.

These days I have been away from translating stories of Sai Sarovar. The reason is that I was busy in drafting the experiences of devotees and the last whole week I had posted various experiences. Still some of them are pending but I thought I must post something from Sai Sarovar and here is one.

Two people were killed Thursday in central India in protests over the revocation of an order to transfer land in Indian Kashmir to a Hindu pilgrims' body, the Press Trust of India agency reported. The protests were part of a nationwide action called by the opposition Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party and an ally, angered that officials had rescinded the transfer after bitter opposition in Muslim-majority Kashmir.

Thailand on Tuesday withdrew its support for a Cambodian proposal to list Preah Vihear temple as a World Heritage site at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The Cabinet decided to backtrack on support for the controversial temple's listing to obey an Administrative Court order made over the weekend, Deputy Prime Somchai Wongsavat said.

When Swami Vivekananda quoted the great Sanskrit shloka in the World Parliament of Religions at Chicago, he underlined this great appreciation of Hindutva that all paths ultimately lead to the ‘One’. The Hindu ideology of universal egalitarianism i.e. belief in inherent equality of all creations, leave aside merely amongst human beings, is put at its best in ‘Gita’. To respect others one has to learn to respect oneself first.

The Congress-led government in the Indian-held Kashmir scrapped a controversial plan to transfer state land to a Hindu shrine on Tuesday amid violent protests. The decision has come after nine days of mass unrest that has already cost five lives and over 800 people injured, besides escalating tensions in Jammu. Hindu organisations, including the opposition BJP, have called for a countrywide strike on July 3 and mass protests between July 4-11.

Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong Friday accused elements in the Thai opposition of politicising the disputed 11th century Hindu temple of Preah Vihear and called it "regretable." "I deeply regret that some political parties in Thailand use Preah Vihear temple to push the Thai government and disrupt relations between our two countries," he told a press conference. "Thailand has not ceded one centimetre of land to Cambodia there."

The ancient Hindu temple at Katas Raj, some 40 kilometres from Chakwal, has been robbed of all its relics, save for a stone carving depicting a god and a goddess, who are sitting, and two female slaves standing on either side. The sculpture, which has been defaced and marred by the ravages of time, is part of a wall in the right balcony of Ramachandra Temple, also known as the Temple of Snakes.
