Festival of Lights celebrates Hindu custom Fame it!

The annual Hindu holiday, Festival of Lights, will be observed at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Huntington High School. Known as Diwali, the festival is centered on the triumph of good over evil and celebrates the Indian new year, said Aruna Velury of Ashland. "It's one of the most popular festivals in South Asia," said Velury, the current president of the Tri-State India Association. She said the two-hour event allows people to share in a significant cultural festival.
