Sikh temple's top man enters political arena

Not since the early 1970s has a member of the South Asian community been elected to Vancouver city council. That was university professor Setty Pendakur. Kashmir Singh Dhaliwal hopes to end that political drought.On Monday, Dhaliwal announced at SFU Harbour Centre he will seek a council nomination with Vision Vancouver. Dhaliwal, 55, is the president of the Khalsa Diwan Society and the Ross Street Gurdwara, or temple.
